Tailwheel Program
Becoming a Tailwheel Pilot can be one of the most fun and challenging activities to enhance your aviation experience and improve your flying skills.Flying a tailwheel aircraft teaches you to use the rudder more precisely for coordinated flight and increases your awareness of the wind and how it affects the aircraft in the two most critical phases of flight. Tailwheel Pilots have a better understanding and improved skills for coping with crosswinds during takeoff and landing in any aircraft.
The FAA Tailwheel Endorsement requires a pilot to demonstrate proficiency in the operation of a tailwheel airplane. The flight training must include normal and crosswind takeoffs and landings, wheel landings, and go-around procedures. The Career Pilot School 2 Day Tailwheel Training Program includes ground training and up to 8 hours of flight training. The training focuses on Super Cub familiarization, left hand turning tendencies, proper positioning of flight controls for ground operations, normal and crosswind takeoffs, three-point landings, wheel landings, crosswind landings, recoveries from a bounce, and go-arounds.
